Carianne Blain is a photographer based in Brooklyn, New York. She is currently a student at Pratt Institute and in 2010 will graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Photography. Carianne's early work manipulates portraiture to convey realms that seem to only exist within in her photographs. Inspired by the likes of Edward Weston and Irving Penn, Carianne often photographs the nude figure to explore contour, contrast and space. Though her work is often done in series, alone her compositions read painterly, each a unique scenario or study. In her work she recognizes abstraction in circumstance and regardless of her subject, intimate moments are made and captured.
